New Maintenance and Welfare Facility (Arch 886) for Network Rail
Robinson Kenning & Gallagher were employed from Grip Stages 2 to 8 working closely with Balfour Beatty Rail, Network Rail and the future occupiers. These new facilities at London Bridge Equipment Room (LBER) facilitated the relocation London Bridge Box Transport Operators (TO’s) and provide a continuous maintenance presence. The facilities also accommodate rapid response maintainers.
The ‘pod’ layout creates a highly flexible space where the workstation area at the front of the Arch is flooded with natural daylight. ‘Amenity pods’ containing kitchen, cleaners’ and toilet facilities, storage and printing areas, shelving and recycling facilities are all located in the centre of the Arch plan and to the rear. Careful design consideration has resulted in a design where there is easy access to all Arch linings for inspection and maintenance purposes by the Network Rail arch inspection team.
