RKG were appointed by Network Rail to prepare feasibility to tender proposals for a new two storey retail unit in between two working platforms at the centre of London’s busiest terminal.
An innovative design solution included relocating existing advertising gantry columns and amending the ticket gateline and station bin store to provide this key retail opportunity along with a much needed new separate platform staff welfare facilities building.
The awarded contractor retained RKG’s services for the construction completion including site support to provide over 750m2 of prime retail floor area accessed directly off the centre of the main concourse at Waterloo
Designed with an impactive store shopfront and contemporary blue colour banding, this retail unit does not go unnoticed in the centre of London busiest terminal. Works were completed in Dec 2010 for a value of £2.3M.
With 300,000 passengers per day crossing Waterloo’s concourse the new retail unit will see a full commercial return within 3 years.
